To bring a greater awareness to domestic violence within the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities.
Explanation of what we are:
Project Voices began in the summer of 2008 as a special project of the Anti-Violence Program of OutFront Minnesota. After a collaboration of ideas regarding anti-violence work, this program was started because we think people need to know that domestic violence exists within the LGBT community and that our voices are powerful tools to making program and policy changes. You can help this movement by telling your own story. Project Voices will be collecting 200 stories from people across the country with the end goal of publishing these stories into one book. It is our hope that this project will bring to light the direct experiences of LGBT survivors.
“The reality of same-sex domestic violence also reflects the need within our own community to break the silence…it’s also vital to ensure that the voices of victims and survivors are heard, believed, and supported.”
